Big Girl!

We had an ultrasound done today, in order to check Campbell's size. This also begins my weekly appointments. I was REALLY hoping that the doc would say I was dialated to like a 3...no such luck.

I was dialated to a 1 (better than nothing, right?) and 50% effaced. Campbell is still head down. The big news was how big our little girl is already. The ultrasound measurements estimated her current weight to be 7 lbs 11 ounces. I realize this is not exact, but she did say her ultrasound tech is generally plus or minus 5 ounces. Keep in mind that technically I still have four weeks to go!

The doctor said we would just take it week by week. She also said that they tend to gain 3/4 - 1 lb per week at this point. Nothing like a big, healthy baby, right?

Here's a few pics. They are not all that clear.
Profile shot...sticking her lips out.
Her sweet face. At the top you can see a chubby check and an eye. She has her hand up in front of her mouth.
Bottom of her foot and toes.

We'll see what happens in another week!

Campbell's Room

Thanks to Aunt Nik for the wonderful letters, GiGi (Russ's mom) for the beautiful bedding and curtains, and to my mom and Russ's stepmom for painting. It was definitely a group effort and I cannot WAIT to see our sweet little girl in her room!

Hope she likes pink....

Precious Friends

We had a baby shower in Waco last weekend, thrown by our dear friends from college. This has become a tradition, as we all meet from across the state to celebrate these new lives one by one. Words cannot express how overwhelmed I was by all the love these precious ladies put into the shower, and knowing that Campbell is already surrounded by so many incredible people who love her and are excited for her arrival.

Diaper Cake made by the talented Kristin ThornKatherine made the trip (by herself) with 2 month-old Dryver. She is so brave!
LOVE these girls!
Aunt Nik painted these amazing letters for Campbell's room. Can't WAIT to put them up.
Eleanor and her Campbell. Hope they don't have any objections to being best friends...cause they don't much have a choice.

So much thanks to our incredible friends.

Baby Shower Fun

This past weekend we had our first baby shower. It was thrown by my sister and cousin Cherie, with help of course from my wonderful mother.

The kid on the cake with the 'fro is me...as you can see my hair has not changed all that much.

Russ made a "post-golf" appearance. To say he was totally overwhelmed by females and all things pink would probably be an understatement.

What a blessing it was to be surrounded by our incredible family and friends and to see everyone so excited to meet Campbell. We are excited for her to know the incredible people that have been celebrating her arrival with us!

Pregnant and sick and some other stuff

Not my favorite combination.

I have been getting some flack for not blogging regularly enough. Apparently, you don't have to wait until something major happens to blog.

So this past week has been fairly horrific. Russ got sick the weekend before last. Sinus Infection-ish. We thought we were doing so good at keeping his germs isolated, until last Wednesday night I started to not feel so good. By Friday I was full out sick. The doctor said it was Strep, and probably a sinus infection too. It is taking me forever to get over it.

There's been more drama. Thursday I was driving a company car to one of the other clinics. I was backing into a parking space and I hit a railing/concrete block behind me. There wasn't any damage to the car, but it hit just hard enough to make me feel concerned. I called the doctor's office and they advised me to come in if I could, but I really couldn't leave work just then. I kept going back and forth about it (I could still feel her moving around in there), when I finally realized that if I didn't go I would be worried until my next doctor's appointment on the 28th. Well, since I was going to the doctor, company policy required that I fill out all the worker's compensation paperwork. Then my supervisor called back and said the nurse at work also had to do a drug screen on me before I left. Ha. Since I haven't taken anything harder than Tylenol in about six months. Of course my coworkers did try to scare me when the results came back. Everything was fine at the doctor. They did an ultrasound and Campbell looked great. She was trying to suck her little thumb but she couldn't quite get it in her mouth.

I was telling the sweet ultrasound technician how silly I felt - as it really wasn't a big deal. She remarked, "well, it's not just you that you are thinking about anymore". That really made me think. Of course over the past six months I have gotten used to making decisions about food/medication with regards to how it will effect her, but I realized that this is going to be on a much bigger scale for the rest of our life. Financially, emotionally, spiritually, practically - Russ and I are having to learn to make decisions (even decisions that we feel like only effect us) with regards to how it is going to effect her. Yesterday I was walking to my car from work and this lady stopped me and asked me for a ride. Normally, I don't think I would have thought twice about it, but the first thing that I thought was about what that ultrasound tech had said, and realized it might or might not be safe for me, but I wasn't comfortable putting Campbell in any danger. What an exciting, overwhelming, scary responsibility.

On a more exciting note...99 days until Campbell's due! She has started moving so much more, to the point that sometimes it looks like there is an alien in my stomach. I hope the next fourteen weeks FLY by!

It's a GIRL!

Russ and I are thrilled to announce that we are having a baby girl, Campbell King (no middle name yet!). Our ultrasound was yesterday morning and with both of our mothers in tow, we saw our sweet little girl. She was quite the active one...the ultrasound technician said she would not stop to have her picture taken. She was also not at all modest...letting all her parts show for the world to see!

We are ecstatic to be having a daughter, although within minutes Russ went through a wide spectrum of emotions and worries (she's going to have boyfriends, I'm going to have to walk her down the aisle, I'm going to be a softy for her).

It was a beautiful moment and we can't wait to meet her in May!
