Our baby girl

She's here!

Campbell was born on Wednesday, May 14 at 3:53 pm . She was 7 lbs 12 ounces, 21 and 1/4 inches long, and is breathtaking. After all the talke of a "huge" baby, she is obviously not that big! I was able to deliver her naturally (with the fabulous help of an epidural, of course). I will post more later about the birth and our stay at the hospital.

We came home on Saturday and are still in awe of this little miracle we got to bring home with us. We are absolutely amazed at how beautiful and wonderful she is and simply can't believe that she is ours. What an incredible God we have!

Change of Plans

We visited the doctor today and had an ultrasound. At this point, Campbell's estimated weight is 8 lbs, 1 oz...not quite the gigantic little girl we were anticipating. Because of the slow growth, combined with some other factors (me not progressing, low amniotic fluid level) we are going in tonight to start the induction process.

The doctor will use Cervidil through the night and then start Pitocin in the morning. Hopefully we still will be having a baby tomorrow!

We're having a baby...maybe

I had my 38 week appointment with the doctor yesterday. After last week's appointment (so disheartening I didn't even blog about it - basically she said "I will definitely see you back here next week"), I had prepared myself for another uneventful appointment.

On one hand, I was right. I have not progressed at ALL and Campbell has not dropped at all. They did not do an ultrasound, but from the feel of things the doctor said she is certain Campbell has gotten even bigger and is feeling like she will probably be too big for me to deliver vaginally.

Now for the good news! I am 39 weeks next Wednesday and we have an appointment for another ultrasound on Tuesday. Then it is decision time. The doctor is recommending scheduling a C-Section for Wednesday, due to Campbell being such a big girl. She is concerned that I will go through the process of trying to deliver only to end up with a C-Section, which she said is the worst-case scenario recovery-wise.

We feel good and confident about her wisdom, but of course want to rely only on the wisdom of our Father. We will decide for sure on Tuesday at the appointment, but right now we are thinking C-Section next Wednesday, May 14th. We of course appreciate your prayers as we make the best decision for our little girl.

Only 5 more days until we have a baby!

Big Girl!

We had an ultrasound done today, in order to check Campbell's size. This also begins my weekly appointments. I was REALLY hoping that the doc would say I was dialated to like a 3...no such luck.

I was dialated to a 1 (better than nothing, right?) and 50% effaced. Campbell is still head down. The big news was how big our little girl is already. The ultrasound measurements estimated her current weight to be 7 lbs 11 ounces. I realize this is not exact, but she did say her ultrasound tech is generally plus or minus 5 ounces. Keep in mind that technically I still have four weeks to go!

The doctor said we would just take it week by week. She also said that they tend to gain 3/4 - 1 lb per week at this point. Nothing like a big, healthy baby, right?

Campbell's Room

Thanks to Aunt Nik for the wonderful letters, GiGi (Russ's mom) for the beautiful bedding and curtains, and to my mom and Russ's stepmom for painting. It was definitely a group effort and I cannot WAIT to see our sweet little girl in her room!

Precious Friends

We had a baby shower in Waco last weekend, thrown by our dear friends from college. This has become a tradition, as we all meet from across the state to celebrate these new lives one by one. Words cannot express how overwhelmed I was by all the love these precious ladies put into the shower, and knowing that Campbell is already surrounded by so many incredible people who love her and are excited for her arrival.

Baby Shower Fun

This past weekend we had our first baby shower. It was thrown by my sister and cousin Cherie, with help of course from my wonderful mother.

The kid on the cake with the 'fro is me...as you can see my hair has not changed all that much.

Russ made a "post-golf" appearance. To say he was totally overwhelmed by females and all things pink would probably be an understatement.

What a blessing it was to be surrounded by our incredible family and friends and to see everyone so excited to meet Campbell. We are excited for her to know the incredible people that have been celebrating her arrival with us!
